Liz Whiteman Smith is a freelance printmaker and artist, currently living in London. She has been inspired by her travels around the world and is drawn to the quirky and unusual. She creates series of multi layered screen prints, working from her own photographs and drawings. Using colour to create playful images, her aim is to make people smile.
She has exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, selling out a limited edition of 100 in the first 3 days. An elected member of the Southbank Printmakers Gallery, she is also active with Print Club London. She has work in the Victoria and Albert museum archives.
Liz founded and manages the North London Printmakers Group. This Group nurtures both emerging and established printmakers and gives them opportunities to exhibit in galleries and art fairs. The Group’s stand won the Critics’ Choice Award at the 2024 Affordable Art Fair in Battersea. Liz prides herself on providing her artists with opportunities and advice organising the fairs meticulously, paying the artists promptly and keeping them happy with a regular supply of her home-baked cakes.
